Hyppo is spearheading the development of H2Bay, the UK’s first business led hydrogen ecosystem, strategically located at Bay Studios, a prime 40-acre industrial site in Swansea Bay, South Wales. H2Bay provides a comprehensive environment for companies, offering office and industrial space, hydrogen refuelling infrastructure, and strong connections to academic institutions and training resources. Central to H2Bay’s mission is the on-site production of green hydrogen, which will supply the businesses operating within the ecosystem, ensuring a secure and cost-effective transition from fossil fuels.

This innovative clustering of hydrogen-focused companies and activities marks a significant milestone in advancing a sustainable hydrogen economy. H2Bay will serve as a knowledge and expertise hub, fostering collaboration across the hydrogen value chain, driving innovation, and facilitating the creation of new projects and supply chains. Its proximity to Swansea University and the University of South Wales, both of which host prominent hydrogen research centres, further strengthening H2Bay’s role as a catalyst for industry-academic partnerships.

Office Space

H2Bay is actively seeking innovative startups and scale-ups in the hydrogen economy to join our dynamic community by occupying the hub’s renovated office space. Located within the A-block at the main entrance of the development, our offices feature a prominent rotunda demonstration and meeting area, perfect for showcasing new ideas and fostering collaboration.

Tenants will benefit from an extensive car parking facility, offering one of the highest car parking allocations in the area, along with convenient access to both hydrogen refuelling and electric vehicle charging stations. Spanning three levels, the office space is being refurbished to the highest standards by the landlord to ensure a premium working environment.

Inside, a diverse range of hydrogen-focused companies will occupy double and single offices with large windows and tall ceilings, each complemented by well-equipped meeting rooms, a tea-room, print room, and dedicated breakout and training areas. Manufacturing & Innovation Space

We are excited to offer up to 100,000 sq ft of flexible manufacturing, workshop, and innovation space, exclusively available to companies within the hydrogen economy. This area, formerly a Ford Motors production facility, is divided into 33,000 sq ft, 47,000 sq ft, and 20,000 sq ft sections, which can be easily combined or reconfigured to create a drive-through manufacturing environment. The space is ideally suited for small-scale vehicle production, fuel cell development, electrolyzers, generators, or other hydrogen-related product manufacturing and assembly lines.

Film Production

Bay Studios has emerged as a leading hub for film and television production, hosting a range of high-profile projects. The most notable production, the Starz/BBC Worldwide series “Da Vinci’s Demons,” made extensive use of our facilities, setting the standard for intricate set designs and complex scenes. The studio has also served as the backdrop for other TV dramas, commercials, and feature films e.g. Apostle (Netflix), The Collection (Amazon Studios/BBC Worldwide) & Casualty (BBC) playing a vital role in boosting the local economy by creating jobs and supporting related industries such as hospitality and tourism.
