Chris Foxall, CEO of Hyppo Hydrogen Solutions, delivered an inspiring presentation at the “Technologies to Fight Climate Change” event, held at Swansea University’s Bay Campus. The event, hosted by the Climate Action Research Institute (CARI), showcased groundbreaking technologies aimed at addressing climate change and exploring opportunities for South Wales and South West England.
Foxall’s talk focused on the vital role hydrogen plays in achieving a just transition to net-zero carbon emissions. As the leader of Hyppo Hydrogen Solutions, a key innovator in clean hydrogen technologies, Foxall shared insights into how hydrogen can decarbonize industries and foster sustainable energy systems. His presentation sparked engaging discussions about the potential of hydrogen to drive a greener future.
The event took place on Wednesday, January 22, and featured a series of 20-minute talks by industry leaders, followed by thought-provoking discussions. Attendees, including local stakeholders and experts, also enjoyed networking opportunities over coffee and refreshments before the talks commenced.
Organized by Dr James Courtney CARI and supported by the GW-SHIFT PBIAA project and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) local section for Southwest and Central Wales, the event highlighted actionable solutions to combat climate change. It emphasized the region’s potential to lead in green innovation and sustainable development.
Other speakers included Stephan Hughes of Batri Ltd, who discussed energy storage advancements and how these can work alongside hydrogen technologies, Michelle Hitches and Dai Lewis from Apollo on offshore wind energy’s critical role, and Russ Wakeham from Two Drifters Distillery, who shared insights into carbon-negative production processes. The event concluded with Jon Widdowson, Innovations and Spin-Out Officer, providing valuable advice on transforming climate technologies into entrepreneurial ventures.
