Carolyn Harris, Labour MP for Neath and Swansea East, recently visited H2Bay at Bay Studios, Swansea, to see first-hand the region’s progress in hydrogen technology and its potential links with international efforts, notably New Zealand’s green hydrogen initiatives.
Harris’s visit highlighted South Wales’ role in the UK’s transition to net-zero, with the H2Bay initiative positioned as a key hub for hydrogen transport, research, and product development. The event also underscored growing international links, including potential collaboration with New Zealand, which is advancing its own green hydrogen strategy.
Harris’s visit underscored the importance of hydrogen in reducing carbon emissions and the role of South Wales in leading this transition. The region’s commitment to hydrogen innovation aligns with global efforts, such as New Zealand’s recent Hydrogen Action Plan, which aims to integrate hydrogen into its energy mix to reduce emissions in sectors that are challenging to electrify.
The visit reflects growing momentum behind hydrogen as a clean fuel alternative and the importance of global cooperation in accelerating its adoption.
